NEW DELHI: Pedestrian safety on top of their mind, Delhi Metro is going to set up stations at every 1.2-1.5 km in Phase III.
This line will run parallel to the Ring Road, and the new stations will serve more than one purpose: these will also be ‘safe’ road crossings, both underground and over-ground. The latter has been a result of Delhi government’s request for more safe passages for greater women’s safety.
The request comes even as Delhi Metro is finalizing designs for the stations. Phase III will have two new corridors— Mukundpur to Shiv Vihar and Janakpuri (west) to Botanical Gardens — with 91 stations, 35 of which will be underground.
Almost all the stations will be connected to both sides of the road through foot overbridges or subways which will be part of the station structure. More info
