The Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Mr. Mangu Singh, today made an inspection of the on-going underground Metro project in South Delhi.
He visited the construction sites at South Ext., INA, Sarojini Nagar and Bhikaji Cama Place to oversee the progress of Phase III Metro work and the traffic diversion plans being executed by Delhi Metro at these intersections. While going through the traffic diversion plans at South Ext., Mr. Singh made the following three important observations:
a) The lighting done along the barricades of construction site along South Ext. should also focus on the road traffic and pedestrian movement;
b) The footpath leading to the South Ext. market should be improved by Delhi Metro; and
c) Engineers should ensure that extra traffic marshals are deployed at this location for smooth traffic movement in view of expected upcoming festival rush.
The Managing Director, however, was satisfied with the underground tunneling work going at INA but asked the Metro Engineers to expedite the work at other underground stretches. More info
